Fitting for finance: How we transformed the floor at Plumptree Kilby

One of the most rewarding things about working with clients across multiple sectors is the opportunity to take a glimpse into their world. In terms of commercial carpets, an organisation will typically choose a style which fits their industry. For example, creatives are known to go for more daring design and colour schemes, while financial companies usually play it safe, with their priorities being outstanding quality.

We recently completed a job for Plumptree Kilby, the independent financial advisors, who were very specific in what they did and didn’t want – always helpful!

The measuring and surveying for this project took place back in April, and this was followed by us presenting them with a selection of samples. After looking at the options together, we came to the conclusion that heavy contract nylon carpet with a castor chair rating would be ideal.

They had a clear idea in terms of style – a two-tone or fleck design was a big no-no, so the search began for contract carpets with a monotone design. This was a challenging aspect, as the majority of contract carpets are two-tone.

Eventually, the decision was made to go with JHS Garda Plus in colour cadet. But before installation, the old stuck down carpet had to be removed and disposed of, with the old foam backing being scrapped up from the floor. We were then ready to stick down the new carpet using an R&M wholesale adhesive.

Prepared Office Floor

True to form, carpeting the stairs was a labour intensive element, due to the fact that the old nosing’s were worn out, requiring careful removal. When adhering the new nosing from Morleys of Preston, we used a very effective adhesive called flexy fix.

We also enhanced their entrance area with a heavy duty charcoal ribbed doormat.

The outcome

The client was extremely pleased with the final result, and on the back of this successful project, they are looking at working with us to change the flooring in their toilet areas.
